I had a pretty awesome conversation over Twitter today with some wicked smart people about the topic of social media spam. I started a conversation with Adam and my friend and superstar marketer Nick Cicero jumped in. It was a spirited back and forth conversation that dived into what is spam on social media, what is the value and benefit of content marketing in general and more. Twitter Chats FTW – Why You Should Join The Conversation

Twitter rocks. To me it is the heart and soul of the internet. One of the best parts of Twitter are the #twitterchats. They are incredibly simple, well focused and plumb the depths of conversation that Twitter enables. As the famous spot on cartoon says: So what the heck is a Twitter Chat? Well my Twitter pal Brian Fanzo had this great quote when i posed this question to him of what are twitter chats? {embedded tweet} In essence twitter chats are basically hashtag conversations. The best attribute about Twitter is that you can have conversations around TOPICS with anyone in the world not just around people you already know. Since all Twitter posts are public and Twitter is by nature a topical, timely and relevant place it is purpose-built for having conversations around topics. The 4 Essential Social Media Tools That Rock


I am a social butterfly. I flit, I fly, I flutter. I also use tools. (Is that the definition of metrosexual?) And if there is one thing that my years as a chef, barista, coffee roaster and beer brewer taught me: The right tool is essential. Be it a professional, sharpenable chefs knife, the perfect tamper, or a digital hydrometer the better the tool the better the result. Tools do not make you a pro, but pros are better with better tools. Having a kick butt 9″ ceramic Wusthof does not make your dish Iron Chef worthy, nor your shallots minced perfectly evenly like little diamonds of deliciousness without the skill and talent to use it well. But it sure helps. Having a stainless 58.1mm Reg Barber concave Bubinga does not make your espresso extract in perfect glorious technicolor unless you also have the training and skill to get all the variables right and use it correctly.
